scammed

scammers are really annoying and there are a million ways they can dupe you. as I've entered into the world of freelance work, I've encountered some convincing recruitment scams/new client scams which inspired me to create this viz. the design I envisioned was quite complicated (think black hole of misinformation and internet confusion), so I kept the data very simple (# of scams reported vs. dollars lost per year). The goal was to create a singular compelling visual that included more specific details in the tooltips plus resources to identify and avoid scams. below are process photos from sketch to final viz as well as the interactive viz itself.
